Our exploration and production (E&P) data experts make it easy for energy firms to stay compliant and extract value from legacy data.
Over several decades we’ve assembled a team of people who excel in classifying, protecting, and extracting the value from data across the full E&P cycle. Our experts are comfortable handling everything from core samples to geological surveys, exploration data, maps and viability reports. We make compliance simple and cost-effective for our energy sector clients. 89% of the UK’s well operators store subsurface samples and information at our facilities in Aberdeen, North Wales and Dundee, as well as at our new flagship facility outside London where carbon emissions of storage can be cut by up to 40%. Our expertise in converting legacy hard copy documents offers clients a competitive advantage, through digitisation for better analysis and forecasting
‘OASIS Group are very responsive and knowledgeable, always giving us guidance on best practices and solutions to streamline workflows that I did not realise could be optimised. Their services provide secure and reliable storage, and we have complete trust in their capabilities to store and manage our geological material correctly.’

Answers to common questions about energy sector records management with OASIS.
Does your information management team have specialist expertise relevant to E&P?
You’ll struggle to find OASIS’s mix of geology, geophysics, oceanography and sedimentology expertise at any other major energy information management provider. The representation of specialisms spans the entire organisation, from geologists in account management to sedimentologists in the C-suite. Our people have decades of experience and qualifications in everything from subsurface tape transcription, seismic data ventorising and digitisation, and petroleum data management. Working with subsurface data as long as we have means we’ve built up an in-depth knowledge of NDR and NSTA requirements, as well as BGS submissions for well decommissioning.
Does OASIS have the scale, services and geographic coverage to support us as we grow?
We work with 89% of UK well operators. Whether you have ten wells or a thousand, chances are we’ve already worked with a business like yours. Perhaps right now you only need storage and scanning, and can manage your NDR uploads in-house; but in the future if you acquire more assets we’ll be on hand to help. Or perhaps you’re a supermajor oil company working to digitally transform and streamline suppliers. As the largest privately-owned information management provider in Europe, scanning more than 204 million items annually and managing 115m boxes in our state-of-the art facilities, we can support on bespoke, large-scale projects right across your business.
Are you qualified to handle inventory audits, scanning, NDR upload and core sample storage?
We regularly handle sensitive and commercially valuable data on behalf of our clients including geological surveys, exploration data, and reports on drilling operations, site investigations and viability studies. We are especially skilled in the NDR process: managing audits of both physical and digital data, gap analysis, uploads addressing applicable CTAGs and ownership transfers. We have large format scanners for maps and well logs, and can arrange tape transcription. We specialise in the storage of core and other subsurface samples at our environmentally-controlled and Inergen gas protected facilities, with on-site viewing rooms in Aberdeen, North Wales (Conwy & Llangefni), Dundee and London.
How secure will our precious samples and information be?
We hold the relevant ISO certifications for quality, environmental, and information security management; as well as British Standards covering secure destruction of confidential material, legal admissibility of electronic information, and conservation and care of archive library collections. We help our clients remain GDPR-compliant. Our vault storage is monitored with 24/7 video surveillance, keypad controls and biometric fingerprint scanners. We support customers with their regular HSE inspections and audits.
If we need to access data urgently, how will we get it, and how long will it take?
We’re located on our energy customers’ doorsteps, with state-of-the-art facilities in Aberdeen, North Wales, Dundee, and London. Easily access your engineering, drilling, business data and core samples at our onsite viewing rooms with round the clock availability. Paper logs and reports can be scanned on demand or delivered in hard copy within hours in urgent cases, by our in-house drivers who are vetted to BS7858 security standards. Our online client portal makes searching easy with spatial and geographic data available within a map interface.
How can you help us hit our environmental goals?
If you’re serious about sustainability, you need partners who are too. Our new, flagship London Gateway facility covers 109,000sq ft and was built to BREEAM ‘outstanding’ standards: the world’s leading sustainability standard for building construction. Only an hour from central London in our fleet of electric vehicles, clients in London and the South East have their documents and assets close at hand in one of the most sustainable warehouses ever built – offering a 40% reduction in carbon emissions. Energy efficiency strategies include photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting, improved thermal performance and building air tightness, and 95% of waste materials generated recycled onsite.
How can you help us progress towards digital transformation?
Despite the amount of legacy data in hard copy, upstream energy operators are making progress towards digital transformation. But if your documents are being scanned as image files, rather than digitised, you’ll struggle to extract data for analysis and AI modelling. We can scan on demand, undertake seismic vectoring, and digitise well logs. The upshot? Searchable and interpretation-ready data, more streamlined processes, and the opportunity to capitalise on technologies like generative AI, to improve efficiency and analysis.
